Ordained a priest at the age of 24 in Krakow, Poland, Grzegorz Ryś continued his studies and became a doctor of theology, specialising in Church history. After serving as rector of the major seminary in Krakow, he was appointed auxiliary bishop of Krakow in 2011 and then metropolitan archbishop of Łódź in 2017. He is particularly committed to ecumenism, interreligious dialogue and the new evangelisation.
