Aged 72, Philippe Demeestère is known to have gone on a long three-week hunger strike to stop the dismantling of migrant camps in November 2021. Chaplain of the Secours Catholique of Pas-de-Calais, this Jesuit father lives in Calais, surrounded by exiled people and volunteers, who will accompany him to Hautecombe.
