Archbishop Ian Ernest is the Archbishop of Canterbury’s Personal Representative to the Holy See and Director of the Anglican Centre in Rome. Archbishop Ian took up his role in Rome following an official Papal Visit to Mauritius by Pope Francis in September 2019, prior to which he was Bishop of Mauritius and Primate of the Anglican Church of the Indian Ocean. In his different missions, he has always been oriented towards Christian unity – in Mauritius, he worked closely with his Roman Catholic counterpart, the Bishop of Port Louis, Cardinal Maurice Piat, and when Ian’s mandate as Archbishop was renewed in 2012, he invited a Roman Catholic priest to preach the sermon. Come to explore what he has to share with us at Rooted in Unity!
